Todd Ryckman is the former Chief Educational Technology Officer (CETO) for the Santa Barbara Unified School District in Santa Barbara, California. Todd spent sixteen years as an equity driven high school social studies teacher and edtech innovator. During his time in the classroom, he worked with the University of California, Santa Barbara’s Teacher Education Program helping to train a new generation of teachers. In his 9 years as CTO, Todd is credited with turning Santa Barbara Unified School District into a model of the effective use of technology in instruction.
Todd developed a teacher training and support program designed to assist teachers integrate technology into their practice. He also oversaw the successful launch of the district’s techEQUITY program that provides approximately 12,000 take home iPads to students. Just prior to leaving the school district, Todd helped launch a competency based education and mastery grading academy.
