Dr. de Janasz has spent the last 20+ years teaching in industry and academia, and on every continent except Antarctica. Her specialties include leadership, change/organization development, negotiation, innovation, mentoring/career development, and leadership capabilities (e.g., coaching, performance management, empowerment, cross-cultural interaction, influence/persuasion, executing change). An engaging and award-winning instructor, de Janasz spent several years directing and teaching in customized executive programs at IMD for clients such as Allianz, Borealis, Credit Suisse, Deloitte, FrieslandCampina, Iberdrola, ISS, Maersk, Metso, Nestlé, Novartis, NovoNordisk, OMV, Pictet, Rabobank, Rio Tinto, Safran, Santandér, Skanska, Skyguide, Vale, WWF. While at IMD, she led executive development programs on behalf of a Swiss non-profit whose mission is to facilitate greater independence and accountability in state-owned banks in countries such as Vietnam and Bosnia Herzegovina. She continues to develop and deliver innovative programs for clients such as BAE Systems, CitiCorp, CPChem, Freddie Mac, Symrise, TUV Nord, and Verallia, as well as a variety of open programs that focus on women, persons of color, mid-career to senior executives, STEM professionals, family business owners, and formerly trafficked women through HERA—a UK charity that empowers women with entrepreneurship skills and mentoring.

Dr. de Janasz draws upon her early industry experience (Hughes Aircraft Company and Lockheed Aeronautical Systems Company), board work, and consulting in conducting and publishing rigorous and practical research on leadership, mentoring, negotiation, CEO learning, work-family conflict, and authenticity. Her work appears in top academic (e.g., Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Vocational Behavior) and practitioner journals (e.g., Harvard Business Review, Dialogue) and features regularly in global outlets (e.g., Financial Times [UK], Forbes India, Gulf Business [Middle East], Straits Times [Singapore]), online (HBRonline, CNN.com), and on radio podcasts (e.g., NPR’s With Good Reason). A former Fulbright Scholar, Dr. de Janasz is the author of the leading text Interpersonal Skills in Organizations (McGraw Hill, 7th edition, 2022; other versions for China, Europe, Australia, Canada available), Negotiation and Dispute Resolution (Chicago Business Press, 2nd edition, 2019), and has won several teaching awards.
