Bernard leads the development of the 1400MW Phu Cuong Soc Trang offshore wind project with Mainstream’s joint venture partner the Phu Cuong Group.

Bernard graduated from University College Dublin with a degree in civil engineering and has a master’s degree at Imperial College, London in Soil Mechanics and Engineering Seismology. He is a former Chairman of the Geotechnical Society of Ireland.

His area of academic qualification is in civil and geotechnical engineering and he has experience in all aspects of power generation from design through construction and operation.

Between 2006 and 2008, Bernard worked in Vietnam as Project Manager constructing the Hai Phong thermal power plant while working for Irish utility, ESB International.

He joined Mainstream in 2009 as Head of Civil Engineering and subsequently held the role of Head of Offshore Engineering where he led the teams for Mainstream’s two flagship offshore projects, the 4 GW Hornsea zone off the coast of England - subsequently sold to Ørsted and the 450 MW Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind project in Scotland sold in 2018 to French utility giant, EDF Renewables. Following the sale of UK offshore projects, Bernard was appointed to Group Head of Asset Engineering before his appointment to Project Director for the Phu Cuong Soc Trang offshore wind project.
