Energy Economics and Policy Seminar: Day 3 Recap

July 07, 2021

On the third day of the Energy Economics and Policy Seminar, Fellows continued to pick up what they were working on with their instructors and lecturers.

The first session began in the afternoon with the Leadership skill workshop instructed by Mr. Sanjeev Nanavati, Leadership and Business Performance Advisor at Falcon Associates Malaysia. This workshop offered the chance to elaborate on how to lead and manage teams. This is a vital skill set, given that no leader can work alone and every good leader needs to have a team that works well together. After completing two sessions of the Leadership skill workshop, Fellows can practice what they have learned in the teamwork session to prepare for the team project as well as other activities of the Seminar.

In the evening, Fellows went on with Lecture 3 “Market Power, Market Structure, Pricing and Regulation of Energy” led by two professors from Harvard - Prof. Edward Cunningham (Director of Ash Center China Programs and of the Asia Energy and Sustainability Initiative, Harvard Kennedy School) and Prof. David Dapice, Senior Economist, Vietnam and Myanmar Program, Harvard Kennedy School. Their talks embraced the concepts of structural market, behavioral market, market power, “smart pricing” trend as well as four main issues in energy development. In addition, Cambodian participants got the chance to share with the speakers and other Fellows some highlights of their culture traits.
