Dr. Nathan Gehlert is a Licensed Professional Counselor, having earned his Ph.D. from Loyola University Maryland in 2011. He is an Associate Professor at Fulbright University Vietnam and serves as the Major Coordinator of Psychology. With an unwavering commitment to advancing the fields of psychology and counseling, Dr. Gehlert maintains a dynamic teaching and research portfolio. His investigations delve into the realms of joy and happiness, multicultural counseling, motivational interviewing, personality theory, and relationship counseling. 

His involvement in Vietnam's psychology landscape began in 2015, marked by his instrumental roles at Fulbright University, Vietnam National University, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the University of Economic and Finance, and Hoa Sen University. His work centers on nurturing the growth of psychology and molding aspiring clinical psychologists and mental health counselors. Between 2021 and 2022, Dr. Gehlert served as a Fulbright U.S. Scholar in Vietnam, when he lent his expertise as an educator and researcher to both Fulbright University Vietnam and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. 

From 2012 to 2023, Dr. Gehlert held a pivotal role as a prominent member of the Counselor Education faculty at John Carroll University in the United States. During his tenure, he assumed leadership as the Chair of the Department of Counseling. Under his guidance, the Integrated Behavioral Health Specialization flourished, placing students in underserved communities during pivotal clinical internship semesters. Dr. Gehlert's efforts secured $1.3 million in grant funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration, underpinning the program's success. 

Beyond the academic realm, Dr. Gehlert's multifaceted interests shine brightly. An intrepid traveler, he has traversed 46 countries and explored 49 U.S. states, driven by his fascination with culture, nature, and culinary arts. His adventurous spirit finds expression as an avid paragliding and paramotor pilot. The tranquility of the wilderness beckons to him as an enthusiastic backpacker and seeker of solitude. In quieter moments, he channels his creativity into cooking, gardening, and restoring antique furniture.
