The YSEALI Academy Announces the Launch of 2023 Public Policy Seminar From Geopolitics to Geoeconomics: Southeast Asia in the Whirlwind of Global Competition

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam — The YSEALI Academy at Fulbright University Vietnam (hereinafter the YSEALI Academy) officially announced the launch of its Public Policy Seminar titled From Geopolitics to Geoeconomics: Southeast Asia in the Whirlwind of Global Competition. 

Launched in 2020, the YSEALI Academy’s main mission is to build capacity and enhance leadership skills for young professionals between the ages of 25 to 35 years old, or between the ages of 36 to 40 years old with YSEALI alumni status required from across Southeast Asia and Timor-Leste. To realize the mission, the YSEALI Academy implements a wide range of activities, including four seminars on Public Policy, Technology and Innovation, and Entrepreneurship each year.

The 2023 YSEALI Academy Public Policy Seminar on From Geopolitics to Geoeconomics: Southeast Asia in the Whirlwind of Global Competition is a seminar geared towards young professionals who are passionate about tackling global and regional issues, especially in terms of geopolitical and geoeconomic challenges emerging from the global competition affecting Southeast Asia region. The Seminar will provide the unique opportunity for fellows to expand their knowledge about the interplay of economic, political, and security aspects of Southeast Asia development, as well as the issues of economic-security nexus of the region.

The Seminar will be delivered by world-renown scholars and experts in the combination of online engagement sessions and in-person seminar events including lectures, panel discussions, leadership training, field trips and team projects. It will provide a special opportunity for young leaders to build their network, enhance their knowledge and sharpen their skills. 

The 2023 YSEALI Academy Public Policy Seminar on From Geopolitics to Geoeconomics: Southeast Asia in the Whirlwind of Global Competition will be opened to applicants who are young professionals between the ages of 25 to 35 years old, or between the ages of 36 to 40 years old with YSEALI alumni status required, highly qualified and motivated, from all 10 ASEAN member countries and Timor-Leste. Once selected, all participants will be fully funded by the U.S. Department of State to attend the seminar.

The seminar will be held in both virtual and in-person settings with the following timeline:

• Application launch: August 22 - September 12, 2023

• Announcement of Result: October 2023

• Online sessions: November 20 - 23, 2023

• In-person seminar in Ho Chi Minh: November 27 – December 1, 2023
