Energy Economics and Policy Seminar: Day 2 Recap

July 07, 2021

On the second day of the Energy Economics and Policy Seminar, Fellows continued to enhance their knowledge and awareness of emerging trends and issues in energy development both in the world and Southeast Asia, as well as learn how to harness their leadership competencies.

Fellows started off the second day with the Leadership skill workshop instructed by Mr. Sanjeev Nanavati, Leadership and Business Performance Advisor at Falcon Associates Malaysia. Through this workshop, Fellows got the opportunity to practice how to communicate persuasively with impact as articulating views clearly, persuasively, and inspirationally is crucial for anyone in a leadership position.

In the evening, Fellows continued to explore the fundamentals of energy with the lecture “Understand the Basics: Energy Use and Conservation” led by two professors from Harvard - Prof. Edward Cunningham (Director of Ash Center China Programs and of the Asia Energy and Sustainability Initiative, Harvard Kennedy School) and Prof. David Dapice (Senior Economist, Vietnam and Myanmar Program, Harvard Kennedy School). This session offered the chance for Fellows to dig deeper into the background of energy knowledge and get all the participants on the same page. Additionally, Fellows had the opportunity to explore the culture of Brunei & Laos through the presentation of participants from these two countries during break time.
