Day 3 of 2023 YSEALI Academy Public Policy Seminar

Professor Thayer's second session of "The Geopolitics of SEA" focused on the impact of current global developments on Southeast Asian. With this as background, the fellows were also introduced to COVID-19 pandemic’s impacts, China’s rise, China-U.S. competition, and the impact of Russia’s war in Ukraine on Southeast Asia.

The Professor’s influential lecture sparked among the fellows insightful discussions on global economic growth, global polarisation, and globalisation of the region in general, and their country in specific.

Professor Vu Minh Khuong began his second lecture in the seminar by reminding the fellows of the priorities for fostering ASEAN integration that he previously introduced in Day 1’s lecture. With that as background, he led the participants through the indicators on ASEAN’s global integration place the stress on FDI and trade, intra-ASEAN trade, and intra-ASEAN investment.
